Wings & Wheels Show, 26 SEP 09

Wings & Wheels is an annual car and air show located at Hummel Airfield in Topping, Virginia. This rain or shine festival provides a great all-day experience for family and friends. In addition to dozens of automobiles and aircrafts, food and craft vendors are located throughout the festival grounds for all visitors.

For the first time this year, there will be a miniture turbine jet as well as games for children. The Sheriff's office will have their new comman post, and there will be a 1944 Sterman giving airplane rides. There is free admittance for visitors; however, donations are appreciated. Parking is also available within walking distance with an appreciated $5.00 donation to the Fire Department.

Personal Note from Skip...

I would like to thank the members of MAARC for the outpouring of support and friendship at the passing of my wife, Phyllis, and the generous donation to the Khedive Shrine Transportation Fund.

I would especially like to thank “The Alfa Babes” for their roll in organizing the food and festivities at my house after the ceremony at the funeral home. It couldn’t have gone any smoother and I couldn’t have done it without you!!

I would also like to thank “Ill Presidente”, Ron Weddle for making the trek from North Carolina just to be at the ceremony and then he went back home and wouldn’t stay for the festivities. Now, that is above and beyond!!

Also, thanks to everyone who brought their Alfas. My brother thought someone had opened a junk yard at the funeral home but I will take care of that!

Thanks Again,
Skip

They will have tech sessions, product demos, free lunch, give-aways & other goodies, plus a 10% discount and a car show. Sounds like a really good event for the club. Also note that the Brown's Island Brit & Euro car show in Richmond is on the 20th - definitely worth stopping by on the way back. Check out all the details below. Also click on the link below to register online for the IAP car show. There is a special hotel rate at Best Western Charlottesville which ends September 4th. See you there!

-Rick

P.S. I am not receiving any kick-back for advertising this event and the fact I won the Piloti shoes at the Wine Tour was pure coincidence! It was Andy's ticket anyway.

Brit & Euro Car Show - 3 May 09 (Williamsburg)

Doug Wilson from the Williamsburg British Car Club has invited us to participate in their annual British and European Car Show in the Williamsburg Winery on Sunday, May 3rd. For those who haven't attended in the past, this is a very nice, well run car show with NO MUSTANGS ALLOWED. That means at least one Alfa will win something! Many door prizes are handed out and there are free winery tours. For once, this date does not conflict with the VA Wine Tour as it often has in year's past. Definitely worth a day trip!

Check the link for a registration form - $20/car early and $25 at the gate.

Virginia Jaguar Club - Richmond Rally 28 June

The VJC has invited the Alfisti for a club event June 28 which will be a navigational tour around the city of Richmond.

The only necessary instrument is a functional odometer in your car. Each driver and navigator team, will be provided with a set of instructions. The instructions will guide you along a scenic route in and around Richmond. The route will run on paved public roads. There are no speed or time requirements.

If you follow the instructions without any errors, you should arrive at the end point in 60 to 90 minutes. In case you get lost, an "emergency envelope" will help you find your way. Included in the route instructions are several questions. Points will be awarded for correct answers. In the event of a tie, the team with a total elapsed distance closest to the official value will be declared the winner.

The start point will be Sportscar Workshop at 1210 Myers St. (on Boulevard) in Richmond. The first car will roll out at about 10:00 AM on Saturday June 28. The end point is lunch at a downtown Richmond restaurant. The VJC Rally trophy will be awarded after lunch.

Please join us for a scenic tour of Richmond, lunch, good company, and some fun.

Notify Rick or Skip by 16 June if you plan to attend so we can let the VJC rallymaster know.
